This week's guide is all about adhesives and archiving your photos.
Our scrapbook albums feature pages that require an adhesive for mounting. For archival mounting, choosing the correct adhesive is key. You want to use a product that is marked with one of the following terms: Acid-free, Archival, pH Neutral, or photo safe.
If your adhesives are not pH Neutral, they can react with your photographs and memorabilia to cause early aging, yellowing, etc. If there is too much water content they can cause paper to warp or bubble over time.
Our basic rule of thumb is this: if you're mounting a one of a kind photo or piece of memorabilia, we recommend using one of the reversible options-like photo corners. If you're working with copies, then it comes down to ease of use and personal preference.
At PerAnnum.com, we are currently carrying the Tombow Tape dispenser. It releases a line of permanent adhesive that bonds instantly, cleanly and without wrinkles.
What are some of your favorite adhesives? Do you have any learning experiences to share about mounting photos with adhesive? We'd love to hear from you in the comments section.
